The 2017 Global Grand Challenges Summit (GGCS) is the 3rd in a collaborative series between the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The 2017 GGCS will also be held in conjunction with the inaugural K-12 level “International FIRST Robotics Competition for Addressing Grand Challenges.”

The summit will bring together leading engineers, artists, economists, designers, philosophers, scientists, politicians, industry leaders, educators and policy makers from across the globe to brainstorm ways of harnessing global cooperation to solve our common challenges.

This event aims to inspire the next generation of engineers and the public to address the most important challenges and opportunities facing humanity such as the 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering. It will focus on six key theme areas: Sustainability, Health, Security, Joy of Living, Education, and Public Engagement.

Bring together people ranging from promising students to the world’s most renowned experts through a unique combination of plenary speakers and interactive workshops that will ensure participant interactions to forge new connections and inspire creative ideas. A Student Day event will feature university students from China, the UK, and the US competing in a business plan pitch competition.
